It’s hard to believe this was twenty-seven years ago! The Lord is good!
The location where John proposed – his parent’s lovely back porch. The sun-porch faced a lovely back yard lined with evergreens. Near the house there were rhododendron, mountain laurels, English Ivy (which we used to decorate the Church for our wedding) and a bird bath which hosted a large variety of song birds. We loved listening to the bird songs.
The Scripture of Love
A new commandment I give unto you. that you love one another:
as I have loved you. that you also love one another.
Love suffereth long and is kind:
love envieth not; love vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up.
Doth not behave itself unseemly,
seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked,
thinketh no evil; rejoiceth not in iniquity
but rejoiceth in the truth.
Beareth all things, believeth all things,
hopeth all things, endureth all things.
Love never faileth.
For love is of God.
And now abideth faith. hope. love, these three:
but the greatest of these is love.
(Jn. 13:34 & I Cor. 13:4-8, 13)
Because God in His gracious love divine
hath caused our paths to meet and
intertwine,
My heart is filled with joy to now unknown,
Because you are my own.
Because you trust me with your heart
and hand, In humble gratitude to
God I stand,
And pray for power divine my love “to show,
Because you love me so.
Because God’s perfect love our love
enfolds, Because His mighty hand
the future holds,
No earth-born cloud our joy can ever
dim, Because we dwell in Him.
