Giving Thanks

My friend, Mary Logwood shared this beautiful music on Facebook. I was delighted to see that there are many Thankful songs at this site on YouTube. It certainly reminded me of all that I have to be thankful for. Thank you, Christopher Phillips for posting your beautiful piano music on YouTube. Thank you, Lord!

Happy Birthday, Ruby!

They grow up so fast! Ruby is still a sweetheart and communicates very well! I took her towel from the foot of the bed in order to wash it while I changed the sheets. She was not thrilled. She came up to me as I typed on the computer and starred at me. Then she vocalized and turned toward the bedroom and looked back to see if I was following. She jumped on the bed to the corner of the foot of the bed where the kitty towel goes. So I placed my folded blanket on the spot instead and now she is a very happy camper. Our Princess is very particuliar and we love her.

Today is Ruby’s birthday and she seems to know it. She has been running around the house chasing her hard food – batting it like a hockey puck, playing with her favorite kickeroo, batting a toy mouse and teasing Skippy and Little Alice.

Happy Birthday, Ruby!

We knew we wanted another Maine Coon to be a friend for Skippy. John had scoured the internet for all the Maine Coon breeders and knew which cats were about to be “new Mamas” and the bloodline of the new litters.

I wanted a calico kitty like my first kitten, Ruby.

Ruby the first was a sweet, gentle kitten who allowed this six-year-old to dress her up in doll clothes and to stroll her around the neighborhood in my red doll carriage. I wanted another kitten like that! Although it is difficult to find a kitten with the same temperament of another…

Autumn Memories

Some things never change. Children will always love jumping in piled up leaves and listening to stories from the good old days when Grammy and Grandpa were children!

Isabel dried and put away the last dish and smiled as she surveyed the clean kitchen before heading to her favorite rocking chair in the living room. She sighed as she sank into the gray platform rocker her daughter had given her last Christmas.

Isabel closed her eyes and basked in the knowledge that all her tasks were done for the day. She heard the screen door clap and caught a whisk of woodsmoke in the air. She breathed deeply and smiled; thinking of days gone by.

“Nannie, Nannie, look what I found!”

Isabel opened her eyes to see what treasure her small granddaughter discovered. “Leaves!” There is probably a trail of leaves throughout the house. Instead, she smiled and reached to the child who crawled onto her lap.

“Aint it beautiful, Nannie? I have more too. They are different colors,” the child said as she pulled yellow, red, orange…

An Exciting Evening in our Neighborhood!

When all of the wrappers are empty

and all of the candy devoured,

The Word of God remains.

In this you can be secure.

“Jesus Christ the same, yesterday, today and tomorrow.”

It was so exciting in our neighborhood last night. We saw a beautiful Cinderella, a cute little lady bug, some pirates, two “Officers in Blue”, two Darth Vaders, Many Star War characters, pirates, (one beautiful girl pirate in a gorgeous costume!) Too many to count.

John was giving out treats to four young ladies (probably in 4th -6th grade) and one girl dressed in a pioneer dress and bonnet caught my attention. She reminded me of “Ma Ingalls” with pretty blonde hair. (Probably Laura or Mary Ingalls) For some reason, I had an overwhelming desire to give her a copy of The Vision of a Mother’s Heart. (My book). She reminded me of “Isabel!” I grabbed a book and ran after her.

She was so excited when I told her she could keep it. Her three friend’s faces lit up. “May we have one too?” “Of course!” So I gave out books and promised they could stop by and I would sigh it for them – if they like it.

A light went off for John. “How many Missy Cats books do you have?

We gave out quite a few to the little ones. Thank you, Lord for the opportunity to serve Him even on an occassion first designed in paganism. Between Gospel Tracts and my books, which include the Gospel,  Jesus was our focus tonight.

God’s Word never returns void. I am praying for each child and parent we met last night.

Did I mention we also got to meet many neighbors? It was a beautiful night and many of our neighbors sat on their porches to give out treats and we decided to sit outside as well. It was a wonderful evening.

Now, if only I had thought to take pictures! Speaking of pictures, I found these two gems among the Purdy Family Pictures. These two snapshots were taken in 1958. My husband is the cute little pirate.
