After we left the falls, we drove to a wonderful country store. There is also a dining area but we were too late for service. They allowed John to snap pictures. Besides a store, there are rental cabins, camping and my favorite feature – horse and buggy rides!
(By appointment)
The people we met were very friendly. They have a local book section too. Of course, I had to purchase one! The 1st American Cookie Lady (Recipes from a 1917 Cookie Diary) by Barbara Swell. This wonderful book has great pics and history too!
We asked about placing The Vision of a Mother’s Heart in the store and she said “yes!” We are to come back in the spring and will leave the books on consignment. If they sell, she will purchase books outright. Praying they well sell next spring – along with the sequel!

I don’t know how I missed this one! This is the kind of stove “Isabel” would have cooked on in The Vision of a Mother’s Heart!

The horses let me pet them! It wasn’t easy to get that close. The ground was sloped and covered with sticker bushes but it was worth it! Not bad for a gal battling vertigo.
As we headed back to Lynchburg on the Blue Ridge Parkway, we saw a beautiful sunset. Perfect for the cover of the sequel to The Vision of a Mother’s Heart. The working title is Hope Beyond the Sunset.
